AP staff visits Nepal ……………

13 July 2006 Kar Mei Lee, Director, Asia Pacific Region, visited the Nepal Scouts in early July. Mei was welcomed by Miss Pushpa Bhatarrai, Joint Chief Commissioner Girls Section, and Mrs Sunita Gurung, International Commissioner Girls Section, who accompanied her on her visits. Mei attended and conducted some trainings at a Trainers’ Seminar; she was delighted to learn that Nepal scouts were holding had a trekking train and have named a peak in Nepal Lord BP Peak. A soft launch for the Lord BP peak will be held in September 2006 where sign posts will be affix at the different points leading to the peak. Thereafter, a full launch with trekking programme will take place in September 2007 in conjunction with WOSM Centenary. Shree Ram invites WAGGGS APR to both the launches and informs that the centenary launch is open to all members of WOSM and WAGGGS. Mei visited the Kakani International Training Centre initiated to involve scouts from Nepal and all over the World. It is located in Kakani Village Development Community, Nuwakott District. It is about 25 km from Katmandu, NorthWest, at an altitude of 2000 meters above see level. The centre covers 32 hectares of land and was given by the government in the 199Os. Since its opening in 2003, there is now a nursery, a plantation, camp site, seminar halls, dormitories and it is still expanding. The latest addition is an Alternative Energy House. One can either enjoy the view from the picnic spots or spend a night camping. Toilet facilities, water access, kitchen equipments, dining hall, restaurant services and security are guaranteed on the site. Kakani International Training Center organizes many activities such as environmental, adventure, Team Building or computer workshops opened to all ages participants.
