A 96 year old Slovenian Scout is the oldest person at 21st WSJ.
The 96 year old Milos Miovic is the oldest person camped at the 21st World Scout Jamboree. He is from Slovenia and this is the second World Jamboree he is enjoying.
This Wednesday, the Jamboree general manager, Aidan Jones, went to the Slovenian tent to meet Milos and they had a little chat. Milos, who joined Scouting in 1927, told part of his history to Aidan in a 15 minutes conversation. “I stopped doing Scouting from 1941 to 1951, and since then I’ve been continuous envolved”. Aidan was surprised with the energy of Milos, and congratulated him for his attendance to the Jamboree.
Milos’ Slovenian colleagues said that the only condition that he imposed to attend the Jamboree was that he had to sleep in his own tent. Milos still helps at the Slovenian tent of the World Scout Centre by receiving people and presenting the exhibition of Slovenia.
Talking about his age and whether or not he would attend to the next Jamboree in Sweden 2011, he just said: “Let’s not lose hope, if I don’t get to the Swedish one, I’ll go to the next”.
After the conversation, the Slovenian contingent awarded Aidan Jones with a gift and a mini scarf from their country.
