Baden Powell as The man of peace

The horrors of war

Longing for peace after three years of war, in 1917 BP wrote “The roots of Scouting have grown among young people of all civilised countries and are developing more each day. It might be thought that if in years to come, a considerable proportion of the future citizens of each nation forms part of this brotherhood, they will be joined by a bond of personal friendship and mutual understanding such as has never existed before, which will help to find a solution to terrible international conflicts.” (more…)

Message from the Secretary General

Message from the Secretary General
Dear sisters and brothers,
In closing his last message to us all, B-P wrote: “…stick to your promise always, even after you have ceased to be a boy…” and obviously nowadays a girl also.

It is the promise that makes our Movement so different from every other youth movement and organisation in society, it is loyalty to that commitment that makes us Scouts, rather that simply people dedicating or having dedicated some time of our life to Scouting.

An Admirable Madman
Before joining the army, becoming a hero and creating Scouting, Robert Stephenson Baden Powell was just a good-humored and friendly young man, who liked acting, games and life in the outdoors more than his studies. Resigned to his mischievous temperament, but recognizing his talent on stage, a teacher called him an “admirable madman”. (more…)
